Only Love Celebrations Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions for Wedding Celebrant Services

  1. General

These terms and conditions govern the services provided by Only Love Celebrations, a registered wedding celebrant in New Zealand, in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

  1. All Ceremonies

- To provide celebrant services in a professional manner at all times.

- To work with you to create a personalized ceremony that incorporates your wishes and unique values and character.

- To give you information and guidance to help you make choices about your ceremony that will meet your needs and expectations.

- To make myself available via email, social media, text, or phone to answer any questions or to discuss your ceremony.

- To conduct a rehearsal where requested and/or required.

- To arrive for the ceremony at least 20 minutes prior to the commencement time and depart no earlier than 20 minutes after the ceremony, or at other times agreed with you.

- To attend and conduct the ceremony at the agreed time, date, and place.

- If I am unable to conduct the ceremony for any reason, I will advise you as soon as possible and all reasonable efforts will be made, in consultation with yourself, to arrange for the ceremony to be completed by another registered celebrant.

- Where I am unable to conduct a ceremony, I will compensate the replacement celebrant or refund my celebrant fee at a negotiated rate that is not more than my usual fee, plus any additional services and costs already paid for such as travel costs. The negotiated rate may take into account any work already completed which I may make available to the replacement celebrant.

- To respect your privacy and confidentiality.

  1. Booking and Fees

- A non-refundable booking fee of $100 is required to secure the date and time of your ceremony. This fee confirms your booking and is deducted from the total cost of the celebrant services.

- The remaining balance is due one month before the ceremony date. Failure to pay the balance by this deadline may result in cancellation of the services.

- Payments can be made via direct credit, Afterpay and Shopify payments.

  1. Lateness and Attendance

- The celebrant will arrive at the ceremony location at the agreed-upon time. If the ceremony starts later than scheduled, the celebrant will wait for up to 20 minutes. After this period, the celebrant reserves the right to leave, and no refund will be provided.

- If the celebrant leaves due to lateness, the full amount paid remains non-refundable, and the celebrant holds no further obligation to perform the ceremony.

- If the ceremony is delayed more than 30 minutes beyond the agreed starting time, either because parties or guests have not arrived or the ceremony cannot proceed for any reason outside the celebrant’s control, the celebrant reserves the right to leave for another commitment if required, and no refund will be given.

- If a ceremony is delayed by more than 30 minutes beyond the agreed start time, and the celebrant stays at the venue, extra time will be charged at $50 per 30 minutes or part thereof.

  1. PA System

- The celebrant can provide a PA system for the ceremony if required. It is the responsibility of the client to inform the celebrant in advance if this service is needed.

- The celebrant will ensure the PA system is in good working order; however, no liability is accepted for technical issues that may arise on the day of the ceremony.

- If a PA system is hired for the ceremony, the use of the equipment will be subject to favorable conditions and it will not be used in conditions where the sound system will be exposed to harm such as rain, strong winds, or extreme heat. The use of the system will be at the celebrant’s discretion in these cases.

- If hire equipment is no longer required on the day, either because of weather, a change of venue, or any other reason, no refunds will be given. Any cancellations of hire more than 24 hours before the wedding, but less than 14 days, will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations more than 14 days from the wedding date will receive a full refund.

  1. Travel

- For all weddings inside and outside of Otautahi/Christchurch, travel costs will be charged at $2 per kilometre.

- Accommodation and meal allowances for the celebrant will be covered by the couple for weddings that require overnight stays.

- Travel arrangements and costs outside of Christchurch/Otautahi will be arranged and covered by the couple.

  1. Intellectual Property

- All vows and ceremony scripts created by the celebrant are considered intellectual property of the celebrant and are not to be shared, distributed, or used by anyone other than the client without explicit written permission.

- The client agrees not to share any part of the ceremony script or vows with any third party, including other celebrants.

  1. Social Media

- The celebrant uses Facebook, Instagram, and a website to promote the business. If you would prefer not to have images from your wedding used, please notify the celebrant in writing before the ceremony.

- When you provide the celebrant with images and testimonials, you allow the right to use these on the website, in advertising, social media, and any other media.

  1. Changes and Cancellations

- Any changes to the date, time, or location of the ceremony must be communicated to the celebrant as soon as possible. The celebrant will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes, but this cannot be guaranteed.

- In the event of cancellation by the client, the $100 booking fee is non-refundable. If the cancellation occurs within one month of the ceremony date, no refund of the full amount will be provided.

- In the unlikely event that the celebrant is unable to perform the ceremony due to unforeseen circumstances, all efforts will be made to provide a suitable replacement celebrant. If this is not possible, a full refund will be issued.

  1. Liability

- The celebrant is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damages arising from the performance of their services.

- The celebrant’s total liability under or in connection with the services provided shall not exceed the amount paid by the client.

  1. Governing Law

- These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these terms and conditions shall be resolved in accordance with New Zealand law.

  1. Client Responsibilities
  2. Provide any information requested in a timely manner.
  3. Advise the celebrant of any changes to the ceremony date, time, or location as soon as possible. If the change means the celebrant is no longer able to conduct the ceremony, the celebrant reserves the right to cancel your booking. If the booking is cancelled due to the change, any deposits paid will remain non-refundable, and the celebrant reserves the right to charge for time and costs accrued. If the change is made on the wedding day and the celebrant cannot accommodate the changes, no monies will be refunded.
  4. If a ceremony is cancelled by the client or is cancelled due to any reason for which the client is responsible, and full payment has been made, a partial refund may be considered at the celebrant’s discretion. This amount of the refund will take into account time spent and any costs accrued. If the ceremony is cancelled on the day of the ceremony, no refunds will be given.
  5. Pay all costs as detailed on the invoice, or for the wedding package, before the ceremony date. If full payment is not received prior to the ceremony date, and no other arrangement has been made, the celebrant may choose not to attend your ceremony.
  6. Any charges not included on the invoice by omission, or any charges incurred during or after the ceremony, are due within 14 days after the ceremony date.
  7. Any outstanding amounts that remain unpaid for more than 14 days after the ceremony date may at any time be referred to a debt collection agency for collection. Any debt collection costs will be added to the amount due.
  8. If a previously advised alternative venue is to be used due to weather or other mitigating factors, inform the celebrant by telephone (not by email or text) of the change, and with enough time to allow for travel to the alternative venue and be there at least 30 minutes before the ceremony starts. If not enough time is given, the celebrant cannot be held responsible for any lateness.
  9. If an alternative venue is used which is outside the Otautahi/Christchurch urban areas, and where the venue is further away than the originally planned venue, additional travel costs may be charged at $2 per kilometre.
  10. Where an alternative venue is used which the celebrant was not previously advised of, and the travel time to the alternative venue means the celebrant will be unable to attend later commitments, the celebrant reserves the right to either arrive late and leave early, postpone your ceremony until a later available time that day, or cancel your booking with no refund given.
  11. The celebrant reserves the right to refuse to conduct a ceremony in a location or under conditions that are deemed to be an actual or potential health and safety risk. This may include the presence of hazards such as extreme weather conditions, unsafe equipment, or natural disasters.
  12. The celebrant takes no responsibility for events or disruptions during the ceremony that are beyond their control such as weather, actions by children, guests, animals, vehicles, or any other potential disruption.
  13. Every effort will be made to ensure that all equipment supplied by the celebrant is in good working condition and is safe for use. However, the celebrant cannot guarantee that there will be no unexpected breakages or malfunctions and do not claim any responsibility for any injury or consequence resulting from the use of equipment supplied.
  14. Resources, ceremony wording, email content, and other information provided by the celebrant are the celebrant
